Ian Brooks is known as “The Voice of the Armory”, the “Voice” at the finish of the NYC Marathon, and the “Voice” of the NASF Indoor and Outdoor national high school championship events held every year. His enthusiasm for the sport is evident in his spirited elocution as well as his interviewing style at all the events where he is an announcer.
Native to England, Ian has been in New York since 1985 and was immediately swept up into the Track and Field and running communities and became a vital part of its existence very quickly.
From 1989 – 1998 he worked for the Metropolitan Athletics Congress as an assistant to Tracy Sundlun as a Meet Director and Announcer.
From 2001 – 2008 he was with the New York Road Runners as an Executive Assistant to Allan Steinfeld, President and CEO. It was then that he became Finish line Announcer at the NYC Marathon.
Currently he is “The Voice of the Armory” - Public Address Announcer, and the Lead Announcer for the Millrose Games. He is also the chief announcer with the NSAF since 1990 covering indoor and outdoor national high school championships.
