New Yorkers Win 47 Titles at USATF Youth Outdoor Championships

Results

The 2025 USATF Youth Outdoor Championships, held June 22–28 at Icahn Stadium in New York, saw a remarkable showing from the USATF New York contingent. A total of 587 athletes from USATF New York competed in 1,083 events, producing standout performances that included multiple gold medalists and some of the top overall medal winners of the meet. New York athletes won 47 gold medals and added 60 silver and 59 bronze medals.

Multiple Gold Medalists

Several New York athletes captured more than one national title, highlighting the depth of talent across the association:

  • Akul Simon (unattached) dominated the 15–16 Boys sprints, sweeping the 100m (10.75) and 200m (21.37).

  • Joel Richards (Westchester Striders) claimed a double victory in the 11–12 Boys 200m (25.77) and 400m (57.62).

  • Julia Grant (Jeuness) stood out in the 17–18 Girls middle distances, winning both the 400m (56.03) and 800m (2:13.74).

  • Mariam Wajid (VO2Max Track Club) was unstoppable in the 11–12 Girls distance races, securing titles in the 1500m (4:53.83) and 3000m (10:43.84).

  • Saffa Ellis (Prospect Park Youth) completed a rare distance triple, winning the 15–16 Girls 1500m (4:56.13), 2000m Steeplechase (7:22.37), and 3000m (10:58.92).

  • Gabriel Samson (unattached) took home two golds in the 11–12 Boys throws, winning the Discus (25.77m) and Javelin (30.66m).

Top Overall Medal Winners

Beyond the champions, several New York athletes excelled by collecting multiple medals across sprint, middle-distance, and field events:

  • Abigail Robisky (Ocean Breeze Wave Runners) earned three medals:
    Gold – 400m (56.15) | Silver – 100m (12.14) | Silver – 200m (25.31).

  • Abigail Clue (Awesome Power Track) tallied two medals, winning the 13–14 Girls 800m (2:13.05) and placing second in the 1500m (4:49.82).

  • Landon Odums (River Cities Athletics) picked up three medals in the 13–14 Boys division: Gold – 100m Hurdles (16.67) | Gold – 200m Hurdles (29.95) | Silver – High Jump (1.65m).

  • Zorion Narcisse-Brown (VELOCITY TC New York) scored a sprint double with medals in both the 400m (Gold – 49.23) and 200m (Bronze – 22.35).

  • Quasie Dobson (Chelsea Greyhounds) medaled in both hurdles events:
    Gold – 400m Hurdles (58.65) | Bronze – 800m (2:01.46).

  • Siblings Catherine & Abigail Robisky  (Ocean Breeze Wave Runners) each claimed multiple medals, with Catherine winning the 80m Hurdles (13.55) and earning silver in the Long Jump (4.68m), while Abigail was one of the top sprinters of the meet.

Relay Highlights

New York clubs also excelled in the relays:

  • Chelsea Greyhounds took gold in the 17–18 Girls 4x400m Relay (4:04.85).

  • VO2Max Track Club won the 13–14 Girls 4x800m Relay (10:06.43).

  • Awesome Power Track struck gold in the 15–16 Girls 4x800m Relay (4:13.62).

  • Prospect Park Youth captured titles in both the 15–16 Boys 4x400m Relay (3:41.52) and the 11–12 Girls 4x400m Relay (silver finish in 4:43.79).
