AGE DIVISIONS & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Age Divisions                                                                                       

8 & under (born 2017+)

9 - 10 (born 2015-2016)

11 - 12 (born 2013--2014) 

13 - 14 (born 2011-2012) 

15 - 16 (born 2009-2010) 

17 - 18 (born 2007-2008)*
*athletes born in 2006 are also eligible if they do not turn 19 on or before 7/21/2025

Eligibility

Individuals:
USATF Membership
This meet is open to 2025 USATF New York member athletes who fall within the age divisions listed above.  Memberships can be obtained online here

Citizenship 
Only U.S. citizens, aliens living in the United States and foreign exchange students are eligible to compete in these Championships.  See the USATF Rules for more information and exceptions. 

Age Division
A competitor must compete in his/her age division only.  Age divisions are determined by year of birth (see above) and NOT age on event day. There will be no "moving up" in any events, including relays.  

Maximum # of Events

Competitors in the 8 & under, 9-10 and 11-12 age divisions may compete in a maximum of three (3) events, including relays.  

Competitors in the 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 age divisions may compete in a maximum of four (4) events, including relays. 

#Combined events are not included in the event count.

Date of Birth Verification 
Each athlete's date or birth must be verified and included as part of their USATF member profile before the athlete's entry can be submitted. If the athlete's date of birth has been verified in the past and their membership was renewed, then they will be able to submit their entry. Proof of Birth (copy of birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal record, driver’s license or U.S. government identification) needs to be uploaded to the athlete's USATF CONNECT profile.  See USATF Competition Rules, Rule 300.1 (i) for further information.

Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk:  
All athletes who participate in the USATF Junior Olympic Program must complete the Junior Olympic Participant Waiver and Release form. This form is already integrated in the online entry system and can be completed electronically; it can also be obtained via your association.  All forms must be submitted at the first round of the Junior Olympic series.  

Relay Teams:
Only registered 2025 USATF member clubs may enter a relay team(s).  All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with and members of that club as part of their USATF membership.  Visit www.usatf.org/membership. 

Notes about club membership -

  • for a club to be active it must have renewed its club membership for 2025. 
  • All coaches linked to the team’s profile must have a) a current USATF membership, b) a current USATF background check, and c) completed the US Center For SafeSport training and be current with all refresher classes.  A list of current USATF member clubs can be found here.

  • Pre-authorization of a credit card will be required for team entries and unattached entries will require immediate payment.  
  • Accuracy of data entered is the responsibility of each club and/or athlete.
  • Please verify team and athlete data within Athletic.net for accuracy prior to submitting entries.

Note: The following events will not be contested at the Association Championships.  For athletes/teams wishing to compete in these events, you MUST enter the event and pay the entry fee for the association meet.  The athletes/teams will automatically be advanced to the Region 1 Championships.

IMPLEMENTS / IMPLEMENT INSPECTION 

A limited number of implements will be supplied during the competition.  Athletes wishing to use their own must implements must present the implement at weights and measures 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the event.

EVENT CHECK-IN

There will be separate check-in areas for Running and Field events.  Athletes must check in at these designated areas when called.  All athletes will be required to remain in the designated warm-up areas after checking in

COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS

All competitors must wear their assigned bib numbers during competition and on the front on their jerseys only.  If an athlete loses the bib number, a replacement can be purchased for a fee $10 Bib numbers will be distributed to athletes on the 3rd floor

EVENT RESULTS

During competition, event results will be posted on-site at Milesplit.live, in addition, final event results will be posted on this page.

PROTESTS

There will be a $100.00 fee for all protests. Protests must be submitted to the Protest Referee no later than 30 minutes after a result has been posted. The protest fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

 

AWARDS

USATF Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the top 6 individuals and the top 6 relay teams in each event of each age division.
 

RULES – CONDUCT & FACILITY 

  • The front gate will open 60 minutes prior to the first event.
  • Only ¼” spikes are allowed
The following are prohibited from Icahn stadium 
• Alcohol 
• Smoking
• Glass or metal containers 
• Food/Gum on the track or the infield 
• Pets
• liquids other than water are allowed on the track surface
• hard coolers 

ADVANCEMENTS TO REGION 1 CHAMPIONSHIPS

The top eight (8) individuals and relay teams in each event of each age division will advance to the USATF Region 1 Championships to be held July 11-13 in Fritchburg, MA.
 
The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held from July 21-27 at a location TBA. The top 5 athletes at the Region 1 Championships will qualify for the National Championships (in combined events the top 2 athletes will qualify).
