Brannigan Strikes Double Gold at USATF Para Outdoor Championships
Results
USATF New York standout
Michael Brannigan
delivered a dominating performance at the 2025 USATF Para Outdoor Championships, held July 31–August 2 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Brannigan raced to two national titles, capturing gold in both the 1500m T20 (3:48.12) and the 5000m T20 (14:38.76).
His victories further cement his reputation as one of the world’s premier para middle-distance runners. The T20 classification is designated for athletes with an intellectual impairment.
Following the championships, it was announced that Brannigan has been named to Team USA and will represent the country at the World Para Athletics Championships this September in New Delhi, India.
Brannigan is no stranger to success on the international stage. He is the 2016 Paralympic gold medalist in the 1500m, the 2020 Paralympic bronze medalist in the 1500m, and the defending world champion, having captured gold last year in Kobe, Japan.
