CPTC Athletes Win Nine Titles; Set Relay American Record At USATF Masters Outdoor Championships

The
2024 USATF Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships
concluded on Sunday (21-July) in Sacramento, CA. 1379 athletes from all fifty states participated in the championships held at American River College.
Thirteen (13) members of USATF New York competed in the four-day competition. Two athletes earned national titles with New York athletes earned a total of 23 visits to the awards podium for their top three finishes.
The storyline for the New York athletes were the Central Park Track Club women who captured three relay titles, six national individual titles, and made a total of 17 trips to the awards podium for finishing in the top three in their events.
Jennifer St. Jean
won two W45 titles as she who the 800m (2:21.61) and 1500m (4:57.82). Her 800m time scored 90.56% on the age grading performance table; where scores above 90% are classified as world class performances.
Santa Medina
won the W45 400m Hurdles (1:08.40) and finished second in the 200m (26.69) and 400m (1:00.42).
Dominique Saint-Louis
and
Lisa Edwards
each claimed the medal trifecta as they each won a gold, silver, and bronze medal. Saint-Louis won the W55 400m running 1:07.54, finished second in the 800m (2:32.68, 90.21%), and picked up her bronze in the 1500m (5:27.03). Edwards won the W45 Pentathlon (2222 pts.), finished second in the 400m Hurdles, and placed third in the 80m Hurdles (16.23). She also finished fourth in the 400m and seventh in the 200m.
The final individual national title was won by
Jennifer Harvey
who won the W55 800m. Her time of 2:29.48 which scored 91.28%; the best age-graded score by the New Yorkers. Her win led a medal sweep by her CPTC teammates as Saint-Louis finished second and Judy Stobbe was third.
Judy Stobbe
won two silver medals and a bronze in the women's 55-59 division. She was second in the 400m (1:09.01) and 1500m (5:25.10). In the 800m she finished third running 2:34.38 (90.92%).
Nathalie Jones
earned two bronze medals as she finished third in the W45 400m (1:01.43) and 800m (2:24.11). Both of her age-graded scores were notable as her 400m time translated to 89.18% and her 800m translated to 88.99%.
The Central Park TC quartet of Jennifer St.Jean, Lisa Edwards, Santa Medina, Nathalie Jones ran to victory in the W45 4x100m, 4x400m, and 4x800m relays. Their winning time in the 4x400m relay of 4:21.16 established a new American record; breaking the previous record of 4:35.18 set in 2014 by the Mass Velocity Track Club.
While the women took center stage for the New York athletes the men also added to the medal count as
Donald Landry
(M70 400m, 1:11.70, Central Park TC - Tracksmith) and
Jay Foote
(M70 80mm, 2:55.50, Westchester Track Club) each won silver medals, and
Sanjay Rawal
(M45 1500m, 4:25.12) won a bronze medal.
Joshua Scherer
finished fourth in the highly competitive M800 running 2:11.41. The time scored 88.26% on the age grading tables; the highest by a New York male. Also nabbing a fourth place finish was
John DiGiovanni
(M40 1500m, 4:26.54, 81.08, Brooklyn Track Club).
Graham Boyd
(Westchester Track Club) finished sixth in the M65 200m (29.58, 81.24%) and seventh in the 400m (1:11.83).
