Holt, Winger, Winkler each win gold and set meet records at NACAC Championships

Results

Four USATF New York members represented Team USA at the recent North American, Central American, Caribbean Area (NACAC) Championships.  The championships were contested August 19-21 in The Bahamas.

Eric Holt (Empire Elite; Patterson, NY) Kara Winger (NYAC; Colorado Springs, CO), and Rudy Winkler (NYAC; Ithaca, NY) all won their events and established meet records.

Holt won the 1500m running 3:37.62 as he defeated Team USA teammate Josh Thompson by just .26 seconds.  He broke the prior meet record of 3:45.08 set in 2015 by Andrew Wheating. Based on the World Athletics scoring tables his time scored 1139 points; the seventh best score in his career.  Fellow USATF New York member, John Gregorek finished fourth running 3:38.04.

Winger, who last month won the silver medal at the World Championsips, won the Javelin breaking her own meet record with a throw of 64.68m (212-02).  Winger's throw was over 14 feet better than the record she set in 2015.

Winkler won the Hammer Throw with a throw of 78.29m (256-10) which broke the prior meet record by over 17 feet.
