Best of 2019 to be honored on December 20

 




USATF New York will hold its 6th annual USATF New York Awards Banquet on Sunday, December 20.  The event will be held virtualy via Zoom.  The event was orginally sechedule to take place on March 29 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The awards banquet will recognize athletes, administrators, coaches, and officials for their 2019 accomplishments and life-long service and dedication to the sport.  The lists of award recipients are presented below.

The Athletes of the Year who will be recognized for their outstanding performances in 2019 are:

Receiving the Lauren F. Primerano Award, the association's most prestigous administrative award, will be Philip Greenwald.

President's awards will be presented to Peter Ciaccia, retired CEO of the New York Road Runners, and Alex Gometz, principal owner of PreFab.

Each year three awards are presented to officials who have served the sport and their communities at the highest level in recent years.  The awards are named after three of the local pioneers in the officials committee - Jake Korn, Louis Vazquez, Jr., and Warren Ring.  Winning the awards this year are Stephen Zimmermann​ (Jake Korn Officials Committee Service Award), Randy Savitt​ (Louis Vazquez, Jr. Officials Committee Humanitarian Award), and Augustus Young​ (Warren Ring Officials Committee Lifetime Achievement Award).
 
The recipients of this year’s Coaching Lifetime Award are James Wilkerson and Rhanda Hopkins; both of the Metro Eagles TF Club.  

The recipient of the Media Contributor award is John Nepolitan.  Nepolitan is a local photogragher who provides photos to USATF-NY and is an affiliated photographer with Dyestat and The Armory.
