Lundy, Bayly, Lindo, Bekele-Arcuri selected as November Athletes of the Month

OPEN - Conor Lundy
Conor Lundy, 18, of Yonkers, N.Y. has been selected as the USATF New York Open Athlete of the Month for November 2016. Lundy, a freshman at Princeton University and 2016 graduate of Fordham Prep, finished third at the NCAA Division 1 Mid-Atlantic regionals on November 11 to qualify for the national championships.  A week later at the national championships in Terre Haute, Ind. he placed 94th and was the second true freshman across the line.  On October 30 he finished third at the Ivy League Championships.  He was named to the all Ivy League and Mid-Atlantic teams.

MASTERS - Fiona Bayly
Fiona Bayly, 49, of Staten Island has been selected as the USATF New York Masters Athlete of the Month for November 2016.  Bayly competed in three races in November; winning the masters division in all three.  On November 5 she ran 18:27 at the Abbott Dash to the Finish 5 km in Central Park.  The following week she was the overall and masters champion at the USATF New York Cross Country Championships at Fresh Kills Park in Staten Island.  She covered the 10 km course in 39:00.  Then on November 20 she ran 24:23 at the Race to Deliver 4 Mile.  All three of her performances scored between 87.25% and 88.84% on the masters age grading tables (scores in the 80s are considered national class and scores above 90 are considered world class).
In October Bayly won the USATF national 15 km title in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was second at the national 5 km championships in Syracuse.
YOUTH - Brianna Lindo
Brianna Lindo, 9, of Rosedale, N.Y. has been selected as the USATF New York Youth Athlete of the Month for November 2016.  She competes for New York Novas T.C. in the girls 9-10 division.   On November 13 Lindo finished third at the New York Junior Olympics at Van Cortlandt Park running 12:37 over the 3 km course.   A week later at the Region 1 championships in Sartoga Springs she won the 9-10 division; defeating the two girls that had beaten her the week before.  Her time of 12:07 was one second ahead of teammate Jianna Molin.  She was the only New York athlete to win at the region championships.    She also helped her club to winning the team titles as both meets.

HIGH SCHOOL - Behailu Bekele-Arcuri
Behailu Bekele-Arcuri, 14, of Middleton, N.Y. has been selected as the USATF New York High School Athlete of the Month for November 2016.   Bekele-Arcuri, a freshman at Warwick High School, started the month off on November 4 by winning the Section 9 Cross Country Championships running 15:42 over the 3 mile course.  The following week he finished 10th at the NYSPHSAA - New York State Championships running 15:44.  One week later he finished 11th at the NY Federation Championships running 16:31 at Bowdoin Park.  At the Nike Cross New York Regional on November 26 he finished 22nd running 16:31, again over the Bowdoin Park course.  In all four races he was the top freshman finisher.
In October, Bekele-Arcuri ran 12:50 on the historic Van Cortalandt Park 2.5 mile course. His time is the second fastest ever recorded by a freshman; behind the 12:44 record set by Sam Affolder last year.  He was the 2015 USATF New York Athlete of the Year (Youth Cross Country 13-14 boys).
