Assemblyman Goldfeder take Strides for Sandy

Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder will take to the pathways of Randall's Island Park this Sunday, November 18th in the "Strides for Sandy 5K".

Assemblyman Goldfeder shares his through with us.

“Overnight, less than 3 weeks ago, an eight-foot tidal surge flooded the first floor of my home, displaced my wife and young children and destroyed my district office decorated with memories from my first year in elected office. During the storm almost every neighborhood in my district was either on fire or underwater.

Our recovery has only just begun! As my friends, family and neighbors in Rockaway, Breezy Point, Broad Channel, Howard and Hamilton Beach piece our lives back together, we are faced with unimaginable challenges.

This Sunday, November 18th, I will join Randall’s Island Park Alliance and USA Track & Field New York, and NYC Parks and Recreation to run for the victims of Superstorm Sandy in the Strides for Sandy 5K.  Hundreds are still without food, power, heat, hot water and shelter and I will continue to work until every family is safe and protected.

All proceeds will go directly to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC and the Daily News Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.”
