Howard Wins Silver Medal at World Masters Championships

Eight (8) USATF New York members recently participated in the World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor held in Budapest, Hungry.  The championships were held March 25-30 in the SYMA sport and event centre .
Leading the New York contingent was Sid Howard, 75, of Plainfield, NJ with a silver medal performance in the M75-79 800m. Howard ran 2:53.29 finishing just .69 behind the winner John Raymond Newcombe  of Great Britain.  Howard also finished 5th in the 1500m running 6:47.15.
Shemayne Williams, 50, of Teaneck, NJ was the highest finisher on the women's side picking up a fourth place in the W50-54 400m.  Her time was 1:06.28.
Andrew Hogue, 40, of Bronxville, N.Y had a busy week in Budapest as finished fifth in the M40-44 400m running 53.45 and also threw 41.32m in the javelin for eleventh place.
