(June 26) Twenty Nine (29) New York members are scheduled to compete at this year's USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calf.  The event is being held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University.  Competition began yesterday with the men's and women's shot put and will conclude on Sunday.

Yesterday the men and women took to the shot circle setup on the lawn in front of the California state capitol building.  Three NYAC athletes participated with two earning top three finishes.  Two time Olympian Michelle Carter (Ovilla, Texas) captured her fifth outdoor title with a heave of 19.18m (62-11¼). Jenna McCall (Carbondale, Ill.) finished 14th.  In the men's competition, Olympic bronze medalist Reese Hoffa earned a bronze medal for his third place finish.  His best throw was 20.78m (68-2¼).  This was his eleventh time Hoffa has placed in the top three at the USA outdoor championships.
