On December 27, Melville won the USATF National Indoor 5000m Race Walk Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Her time was 22:38. Melville is scheduled to compete in the NYRR Millrose Games next month and then the USATF Indoor Championships in Portland, Ore. in March.
, 50, of New York has been selected as the USATF New York Masters Athlete of the Month for December 2015. McManus won the 50-54 USATF National Masters 10 km Cross County title on December 12 in San Francisco. McManus outran 133 competitors in his age division and won by 26 seconds over Carl Combs of Washington. His time was 33:40 over the rolling course. His age graded score of 89.23% was the fifth best out of 416 men in the master’s races.
, 8, of Brooklyn, N.Y. has been selected as the USATF New York Youth Athlete of the Month for December 2015. On December 12 at the National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in New Mexico Lindo won the 8 & under girls race by 19 seconds over Juliana Peters of Oregon. Her time over the 2 km course was 7:54. Two weeks later at the Ocean Breeze Youth Holiday Festival she won the 600m in 1:56.91 and the long jump with a leap of 2.69m (8’-10”).
, 17, of Yonkers, N.Y. has been selected as the USATF New York High School Athlete of the Month for December 2015. Lundy, a senior at Fordham Prep, finished an impressive seventh at the Foot Locker National Championships in San Diego on December 12. Competing against the top 40 high school runners in the country Lundy, who announced he will attend Princeton University in the fall, finished in 15:21 to earn 2nd team all-American honors. Lundy ends the year as he started it (in January) as the High School Athlete of the Month.
