Prior to Saturday's U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon in Los Angeles we caught up with Caitlin Phillips, 33, of New York to learn more about her running, how she felt when she learned she had qualified for the Trials, and her life beyond running; including, who she would most like to have lunch with, her role model, her favorite athlete, and something a bit unique about herself.  This will be her first Olympic Trials.

So let's GET TO KNOW Caitlin a bit better......

How did you start running?
6th grade XC! Convinced my dad (who ran hs xc) to take me out for some training runs before the season started. I was in love!

Where did you qualify for the Trials?
2014 Chicago Marathon (2:42:45)

Tell us about the point you realized you had  qualified for the Trials and how it felt
This was a pretty exciting/ unexpected moment for me because I had stopped around 19 miles into the race to deal with some bad cramping in hamstring. A NYAC teammate of mine Jeanna Composti passed shortly after stopping and helped pace me to the finish line. I was able to hang on and finish about 15 seconds behind her so we were able to celebrate the achievement together! and then i hobbled to the medical tent....
