Forys & NYAC Women 4th at Club Nationals

Craig Forys (New York AC / Howell, NJ) and the New York Athletic Club  (NYAC) open women's team each picked up 4th place finishes at the 2014 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships held December 13 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn.  Over 1750 athletes competed in the four events - Open Women (6 km), Open Men (10 km), Masters Women (6 km), Masters Men (10 km) - making it the largest club championships in history.  The previous record was 1131 athletes when the event was held in Seattle in 2011.
 
The top USATF New York team performance of the day was the 4th place finish by the NYAC women's team.  They scored 129 points.  A total of 43 women's teams competed.  The top three teams were Boston Athletic Association (New England) 50 points, Boulder Running Company (Colorado) 58 points, and adidas Rogue AC (South Texas) 85 points.  The team scorers for the NYAC were: Nicole Schappert (11th), Delilah  DiCrescenzo (35th), Megan Hogan (36th), Sarah Cummings (37th), and Esther Erb (40th).  Finishing 12th was the Central Park Track Club New Balance with 455 points.  They scorers were Erin Koch (62nd), Christina Arqueta (100th), Stephanie Herrick (123rd), Aileen Conlon (136th), and Ivette Ramirez (141st). The third New York team in the race was the Dashing Whippets Running Team.  They finished 38th with 1066 points.
 
In the men's open race Craig Forys finished 4th overall in a field of 572 athletes.  His time of 29:14 was just 6 seconds behind the winner Ryan Hill from Portland, Ore.  Forys effort lead the NYAC men to an 8th place team finish out of a total of 72 teams.  He was followed across the line by Christopher Bendsten (56th), Robert Molke (63rd), Gian-Paul Caccia (88th), and James Kelly (89th).  The NYAC B team finished twenty first. 
 
Other New York clubs to field teams were; Central Park TC New Balance (39th), Urban Athletics NYC (42nd), Signs of Weakness (57th), Central Park TC New Balance B (61st), and Dashing Whippets Running Team (66th).
 
Next year's championships will be held on December 12 in San Francisco, Calf.
