OPEN - Jessica Chichester
Jessica Chichester, 31, of New York, NY  has been selected as the USATF New York Open Athlete of the Month for April 2018.  She competes for the Dashing Whippets Running Team.

On April 16 Chichester ran to a fifth place finish at the Boston Marathon.  On a day that will go down in running history because of the horrendous weather conditions that resulted in many running 5-20 minutues slower than usual, Chichester actually set a career best by nearly eight  minutes - running 2 hours, 45 minutes, 23 seconds.  One might jump to the conclusion that she was a relative novice at the marathon with a "soft" personal best. Not true.  This was her 12th marathon with her previous best of 2:53:30 run at the 2016 New York Marathon.

Chichester, who works full time as a nurse practitioner, incredibly was back at work the day after the marathon working a 10 hour shift.

She won $15,000 for her fifth place finish.
